I'm here! (Photo-update)

Saturday, 22 September, 20.30

So I'm writing this post from my phone because I haven't managed to go to an Internet cafe yet. Most of the pictures I took are on my camera, so they will follow on a later point.

B&B ´El Colibrí´
Well.. I don't know where to start because there have been so many impressions in those 2 days I have been in 'Ciudad de Mexico'. But maybe I start from the beginning. After a hard goodbye from Marty I was ready to go on my plane. But the plane wasn't ready so the flight got delayed by nearly 3 hours. But once we took off the flight was very calm and nice. I watched the movie 'Coco' which is about the ' Dia de los muertos' (Day of the dead) which is a big holiday in Mexico. I can really recommend the movie! When we landed in Mexico everything went really quick, I got my tourist visa and my backpack and found a taxi that brought me to the B&B. When I arrived there I got a warm welcome from Omar, who is running the place with his wife Gabriela. I felt very exited and happy to finally be here :) But I was also very tired, but unfortunately I barely slept that night because of the Jetlag. The next morning I had breakfast with Omar and Gabriela and we kept talking for some time. After that I got a chip for my phone with mobile internet.

Then it was time to explore a bit... taking the metro for 20cent to the center, el Zocalo, which is a huuuuuuge Square. The center of the city is really a lot. A lot of people, a lot of cars, a lot of shops offering the same things over and over, like jewellery and contact lenses.

My lunch: Hot chocolate, Fresh mandarin juice, an omelete filled with pumpkinflower and champignons, tamal and tortilla.

I walked around a bit and had lunch at restaurant that Omar recommended. That was really good- I will show the picture later. After more walking around and talking to a Mexican in the park for a bit I was getting tired of all the people. So I went back to the B&B (taking the metro in the wrong direction first ...) and there Omar was offering me Tequila 😄 So I had a tequila with him and his wife and we were talking quite some time and dancing a bit of Cumbia. At some point Omar invited me to join him for a Zumba class in the park. So I went with him to do Zumba in the public park which was really funny.

Today I did a tour which Omar recommended. We went to see Teotihuacán, ancient temples built by a civilization older than the Atztecs, who are most known in Mexico. We also visited an archeological site in the city and a very big Catholic Church. Today I learnt quite a lot about some history of Mexico but also about the modern Mexico and the role of the church.
The building in the back is the Basilica de Virgin Guadalupe. This place is like the vatican for America.

The temples here were made by the Teotiuacans, a civilistion before the Atztecs came from Northern america to Mexico.

Not a lor is known about the believes of the teotiuacans, so a lot are speculations from what we know from other civlisations of the Americas.

Wow, only two days and so much happended. Tomorrow I will calm down a bit and just take the bus to Puebla. I'm quite glad to leave Mexico City because it is quite overwhelming for me. I really like Omar and Gabriela and the neighborhood here is very! So I really begin to notice that for me the people and their daily life is much more interesting and fulfilling to me than pretty buildings.
Now I'm sitting on my bed, it's raining outside and I'm eating some peanuts. I think I will go sleep soon because my body still thinks that it is 3 in the morning and I have a little headache.
